H&M cat print dress
H&M above-the-knuckle rings
Forever 21 cat ring
Tesco cowboy boots

Ever since I bought this dress, it's been worn on a weekly basis. I frickin' love it. Always paired with my cat ring for continuity purposes, it'll tide me over until I get my own cat once more. The boots were purchased on a whim on Friday but I know they'll get lots of wear too.

I'm off to London any second to celebrate my friend's birthday, and I honestly can't wait. We're heading to Roadhouse in Covent Garden - of which I've never been to - and the plan is cocktails, cocktails, cocktails.

Do you have any bank holiday weekend plans?

I sang by that piano, tore my yellow dress & cried

TOPSHOP crystal and gold chain necklace (old)
GLAMOROUS gold stud black suede ankle boots

I've practically been living in this ASOS smock dress since I got it. It makes me want to swish and sing and sway. Always a plus! It's still too hot and muggy to wear anything but dresses and bare legs lately; in fact, it's shocking to see my feet detached from sandals.

What item of clothing do you keep reaching for again and again?

Primark haul: August 2013

floral print smock dress: £13
Navajo-inspired statement necklace: £5
Popcorn socks: £2
Slipper socks: £3
Raglan top: £5
Live Laugh Love cushion: £4
Sweet berries & patchouli scented candle: £2
Double duvet cover set: £7 (sale)

When I say that I had a traumatic experience in Primark, my best friend would understand. Plenty of "umphs" and "grrrs" were uttered and the odd rude expression might have inexplicably come out too. In short, I tried on about 15 seriously pretty dresses only to find their fit absolutely horrid. As well as being devastated - I don't think Primark clothing is made for women with any sort of chest - I also struggled to get the darn things off. All fun and games.

Despite this, I did come away with some finds. The one dress that looked semi-decent just happened to be my favourite print so that was a blessing, and the £5 necklace is so beautiful. I also couldn't resist some items from the home department, and the cosy socks and slippers were last minute treats.

Have you found anything pretty in Primark lately?

Brat & Suzie Goose Balloon Sweat Top: c/o ASOS
blue skinny jeans: Dorothy Perkins
Laura Ashley white shirt: charity shop
star print slipper socks: a Christmas present

As soon as I received this seriously cute Brat & Suzie jumper in the post last week, I wanted to wear it. Unfortunately, the weather has just been too darn good for a jumper - I jest, I love it - so I had to wait for a nippy evening to quench my knitwear thirst.

I chose a night involving a glass of white wine or two, a delicious takeaway and plenty of Doctor Who repeats to wear it in. Bliss. Not only is it a whimsical wonder, but it's so incredibly soft inside that I can see it being an autumn/winter favourite.

Do you have anything by Brat & Suzie?

The West Mersea Oyster Bar

I often find myself in West Mersea - my parents have a caravan there and I now live just down the road too - and Friday saw Daniel and I head to the renowned West Mersea Oyster Bar for the second time. What a treat.

We shared the 'Seafood Platter for One' and opted for tasty chips and a round of the famous Mersea Rocks oysters on the side, which was all positively delicious.

We've both been blessed with a week off this past week so on top of this summery excursion we've gone to Colchester Zoo, partaken in a spot of fruit picking, eaten at Lucca (a top-notch Italian joint) in Manningtree, bought a sofa (yep), gorged on a Chinese feast with family, and I enjoyed an hour-long full-body massage at our local spa. All-in-all, a damn fine week.

How have you all been?
