floral printed blouse: charity shop
strappy black top: New Look
high-waisted denim shorts: New Look
stag necklace: Accessorize
ankle creeper boots: Mr Shoes

Well this is a little fruity, isn't it? I picked this blouse up in a charity shop months ago and hadn't gotten around to wearing it much but figured it was ideal with a pair of high-waisted denim shorts. It definitely reminds me of those shirts men wear in Miami with an obscene shorts, socks and sandals combo. Lovely jubbly.

ahh, geek out!

Saturday, 29 December 2012

Well that went by far too quickly, didn't it? I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas! In the aftermath, I find myself either gorging on leftover food and plenty of chocolate or gazing lovingly at the presents people were so generous to give me. I thought I'd share a few of my favourites with you...

Photobucket

Q&A-A-Day 5 Year Journal / Doctor Who Adipose Stress Toy / Harry Potter themed bracelet feat. a snake, an owl and a snitch / a Deathly Hallows pendant / tickets to see Jake Bugg in Southend / Thorntons 'shoe goddess' chocolates (gone) / Butterscotch Angel Delight

Photobucket

I also got this uh-ma-zing Harry Potter chest from Daniel. Apart from being wonderful just for the design, it also features all the DVDs, special features, a book of artefacts, a certificate of authenticity, postcards, a set design for the final film, a large wall tapestry and a horcrux. It's most definitely my favourite gift.

This year, Christmas has taught me that I'm a geek; with the most fashionable item I received being a fluffy heart print dressing gown.

Did you have a lovely Christmas? What was your favourite present?

500 followers giveaway ft. Roundabout Vintage

Saturday, 22 December 2012

Photobucket

I practically squealed like a pig last night when I hit 500 followers. Without sounding like I'm trying to accomplish the ultimate acceptance speech, I honestly don't know how to put into words how much I love blogging. As well as meeting and interacting with seriously wonderful people, it's given me the opportunity to realise that I'm not a 'sad story'; just a little Perks reference there. There's something about documenting your evolving personality, style and writing capabilities too that's actually quite magical. I mean seriously, who the hell is this person?

Anyway, I wanted to host a giveaway to celebrate. Sophie (above) is a colleague and friend and I was thrilled when we arranged this giveaway to feature her brand Roundabout Vintage. Her boutique is featured on ASOS Marketplace and it boasts on-trend, wearable vintage clothing; some of which has been reworked.

You can win the Geometric Tumbling Block Monochrome Tee (above) which Sophie made herself. It has a unique hand-painted design and the rolled-up sleeves are sewn in place too. Sophie is making a size medium for the winner.

Rules:
- The giveaway ends at midnight on Saturday 5th January 2013
- It is a UK-only giveaway
- All entries must be completed through the Rafflecopter form
- The winner will be selected at random
- If the winner doesn't respond within a week, I shall randomly select another winner

Yeah, oops. Despite constantly moaning about money, I couldn't resist a sneak peek at the ASOS sale and ended up with an overflowing online shopping basket. I managed to narrow it down to the above four pieces - a 'well done' is in order I think, because the sale is bloody brilliant.

I've wanted a tasselled top for a while and thought the ASOS Top With Fringe Beaded Hem was perfect. I've also become a bit of an anti-high-heel person lately but don't really have any going-out flats so bought the ASOS Volley Flatform Ballet Shoes. The ASOS Sweatshirt With Fur Panel Sleeves and the River Island Yellow Beaded Pouch Necklace were something a little different I thought and I can't wait to try them on.

Have you checked out any amazing sales in the last week? On second thought, maybe you shouldn't tell me!

vintage camouflage jacket with customised fur collar & floral print headscarf: both Blue Rinse

Here's another amazing find from The Clothes Show. I just had to have this vintage camouflage jacket from the Blue Rinse stand. It's been customised with a faux fur collar, has gigantic sleeves (I've simply rolled them up here) and boasts both buttons and Velcro to ensure I'm kept toasty warm on a chilly winter's day. I love how it's completely statement-worthy too.

The jackets were £25 each or two for £40 so my friend Helen and I both got one each, and the gorgeous Faye threw in two free head-scarves each as well - what an absolute (and wonderfully dressed) babe.

Blue Rinse also sell customised tees, denim shorts, Levi jeans, jumpers... you name it. Their tie-dye pieces were especially lovely.

What do you think of my new camo jacket?

tartan dress: Yayer
'running wild' crop tee: H&M
navy floral headband: Crown & Glory
'love' bracelet: Topshop sale
pearl cross bracelet: Topshop sale
purple jangly ring: Boots

I forgot how much I love wearing blue. Hence when it came to choosing the colour of my Christmas present from my nan and granddad (a Crown & Glory floral headband, for which I have long been coveting) I automatically went for navy. Robyn always looks seriously good in the black version and I've seen a lot of pastel creations floating about too, so I thought this was a little different.

The tartan dress reminded me of the Dries Van Noten spring/summer 2013 collection, which was most definitely my favourite SS13 offering, so I snapped that up quickly in the Yayer flash sale the other week too. I haven't half had some reet bargains recently!

Have you purchased anything pretty lately?

truly scrumptious

Photobucket

I headed to a local Christmas fayre in Maldon last night with my mum and dad where it was completely normal to see a cross-dressing man bursting into song ('Me Ol' Bamboo' from Chitti Chitti Bang Bang is still going 'round and 'round my head), Morris dancing, choir singers wandering the streets with artificial candles and, of course, plenty of food and drink.

It was also the perfect opportunity to explore shops you wouldn't necessarily notice on a regular rushed shopping day. We scurried into Truly Scrumptious to escape the freezing weather and it was an absolute treasure chest. It's a darling cafĂ© (as seen above) that is also home to decorative china and antiques upstairs.

I fell head-over-heels in love with the pale blue chest of drawers and the little table of a similar colour which featured a local map of Maldon and the surrounding area under the glass top.

There was also a small room that featured Normal Jean vintage clothing. There were so many things I wished to take away with me including a gorgeous black midi dress, gold sparkly clutch and clothing trunks.

I'll definitely be returning pronto for a cup of tea, a slice of cake and, no doubt, a vintage find.

vintage jumper 'upcycled': House of Hauls
black bodycon skirt: H&M
wine-coloured bobble scarf: second-hand
spike bracelet: Dorothy Perkins
stone ring: Boots
black creeper ankle boots: Mr Shoes

I may just live in this jumper forever. I got my hands on this cosy creation at The Clothes Show from a stand called House of Hauls; a brand that reworks vintage pieces with studs, studs... and then some more studs. Denim shirts, camouflage jackets, printed shirts, Levi jeans and much more were on offer, but I opted for something to keep me toasty warm over the next few months. I love how the shoulder studs make it into something extra special too.

You continuously see me in my creeper chelsea boots because I adore them so much, so I also decided to buy a similarly amazing pair while on the Mr Shoes stand over the weekend.

The Clothes Show was chock full of amazing brands and I can't wait to show you another amazing buy. Did any of you go? Did you see me selling shoes like it was the only thing that mattered in the whole world ever?

motel rocks bloggers' sale preview

Photobucket

The Motel Rocks sale starts next week but us lucky bloggers are getting a head-start on the action. You can get 50% off this secret selection of clothing when you use the code XMASPREVIEW50 at the checkout!

Photobucket

I normally avoid treats like this like I avoid sponges (yeah, I seriously hate them) because they're just too damn tempting but I've had a super stressful few days and felt like I deserved a treat. I ordered the Motel Valentine Open Back Playsuit In Floral Navy Pink Rose and am budding with excitement for it to arrive.

Let me know if you treat yourself to anything too...

A4 Personalised Cover Photo Book: c/o Groupon

I don't know about you but I'm a sucker for photographic memories. As soon as I was back from my two month Asian adventure last year I was brainstorming the best possible way to showcase my pictures. While I have a box chock full of knick-knacks and paraphernalia, I knew I wanted some kind of coffee table book collection of my favourite snaps.

Photobox was my port of call and I set to work on making my photobooks. Did you know that Groupon have Photobox offers all the time? Because I sure didn't. When I heard from the lovely James at Groupon with the opportunity to try something out (Groupon have local offers from spas to restaurants, to travel offers all around the world, to product offers too) I beelined straight for the Photobox offer. What was supposed to cost over £50 was an amazing £15.50 through Groupon. If only I knew this sooner, ay?

Take a look at some of the pages from my 'Thailand' book...

I couldn't be happier about completing my collection. The Thailand creation joins my books of Laos, Vietnam & Cambodia, and Malaysia & Singapore. The perfect keepsakes.

Groupon offers are forever changing so it's worth keeping an eye out but, as I write this, there are two totally fab photo offers on: a You Frame Personalised Photo Montage (how cute!) and a Photobox Magic Mug. Perfect in time for Christmas!
