you are my sweetest downfall

dip hem grey top: Primark
cycling shorts: H&M
faux leather jacket: H&M Kids
black beanie: H&M
gold key necklace: New Look
pyramid ring: H&M
creeper chelsea boots: Mr Shoes

It's Friday, Friday, gotta get down on Friday! Ahem.

I can't wait for this weekend to get going. I'm seeing the bestie down the pub tonight and I haven't seen her for two. whole. weeks. I think it's the longest we've gone since I sodded off to Asia last year. I also plan on having a cooked breakfast tomorrow morning courtesy of Toby Carvery, and later that day is a local carnival - my friends, boyfriend and I are going to get sloshed, watch the carnival and head down to the fair in true high school fashion. No plans as of yet for Sunday but catching up with Doctor Who is a must.

Happy Friday everyone - what are you up to this weekend?

The best thing about being ill? No guilt whatsoever about making some purchases. Okay, maybe there was some guilt.

H&M is a bit of a treasure chest lately. I felt like a magpie when I swooped in all the golden goods - the hooped earrings are amazing (inspired by the wonderful Laila at The Kitten Whiskers - thanks m'lady!) and the tacky sunglasses actually look fab on. The winter moccasins and ring were spur-of-the-moment purchases, and I've wanted a good beanie for ages - when priced at £3.99, two are a must right?

I couldn't resist the GOLD by Giles ribbon tights at New Look (nor the adorable key pendant) and I noticed that HMV were selling the Harry Potter boxset for £20 down from £50 - amazing. You may think it's crazy that I didn't already have them all but I was waiting for the price to come down. Before this, my HP collection consisted of the first two on video, the next three on DVD and the three after that on my computer.

Happy Rosie.

i see beauty in the rain

The plan was to have a horrendously productive day today but obviously this hasn't happened. Instead, I've found myself watching some tennis, munching on pop tarts, having a hot bath, enjoying a few episodes of Gilmore Girls, traipsing through Tumblr and feeling sorry for myself - I can't stand OTT moaners when it comes to being ill but this head cold that's appeared out of nowhere is making me want to take a hacksaw to my head to ease the pain.

I'll be curling up tonight with the boyfriend, a pizza and some Doctor Who hopefully.

[Oh, and my darling camera has had to go to the doctors but I'm hoping Benny will be back with me soon so I can outfit post it up big time...]

Tribal Cardigan: Urban Outfitters
Purple Rain Crown: Crown and Glory
Bright Pink Rib Beanie: River Island

My wishlist is ever-extending at the moment. I realise this is a complete mismatch of goodies but hey, it's what I want. I barely own any red but tartan has just been calling to me lately - how amazing are the J.W. Anderson for Topshop trousers? I'm also pining for a flippy leather skirt (the New Look one looks like it'll do the trick) and a beanie.

Oh and some of these wouldn't go amiss either. With autumn well and truly here, all I want to do is kick back in a hot bubbly bath with a good book.

What are you wishing for lately?

i waited for an hour, i finally gave up

Wednesday, 12 September 2012

speckled pink tee: Topshop
high-waisted tie-dye denim shorts: Topshop
khaki/faux leather jacket: River Island
spike cluster necklace: New Look
bracelet: Dorothy Perkins sale
black tights: Boots
white frilly socks: Topshop
black creeper chelsea boots: Mr Shoes

Anyone one would think superglue was keeping me permanently attached to my new River Island jacket and Mr Shoes creeper chelsea boots - I'm seen in them practically every day at the moment. They're both so easy to just thrown on and walk out the door whilst still looking like you've made an effort. A dash of lipstick does that too doesn't it? So underrated.

In typical British fashion, the sun came out as I put the jacket on. Yep.

kayaking in West Mersea

Monday, 10 September 2012

My parents invited my brother, my boyfriend and I to their caravan this weekend for a spot of kayaking - ooer! Daniel had never done it before and I was eager to get on the water again, and it was lots of fun. As it was such a beautiful day, there was nothing better than when we stopped paddling to chat in the blissful sunshine; merely floating about on the water.

Did you do anything this past weekend?

Fashion's Night Out

Friday, 7 September 2012

I headed into London last night for Fashion's Night Out and, of course, took my obligatory glance at Big Ben and the river as I arrived. It's a sort of tradition for me, and makes me feel like I'm truly in London. And what beautiful weather it was too.

First stop was Topshop where the amazing Delilah was performing a four-song acoustic set. I was waiting for someone so actually watched both the 7pm and 8pm slots while I hung around Oxford Street. Aside from being undeniably beautiful, her voice was even better live.

Miss Selfridge were offering false eyelashes from Eylure for free - if you wanted to queue that is - but I beelined straight for the Customisation Station. With two lovely ladies from 'Sew Over It', they showed you how to customise your basics with lace, jewels and studs to add a unique touch.

AllSaints was completely rammed. My theory is that the delicious free Moscow Mules (a ginger and vodka cocktail) had a little something to do with it, as did music from Alpines and the première of the brand's autumn/winter 2012 collection.

From here, it was a wander really. I happened to stumble across AlunaGeorge on Bond Street, which was a lovely treat.

Did any of you go to Fashion's Night Out?

Brownstock 2012

Tuesday, 4 September 2012

Last weekend saw me head to Brownstock Festival. Known as 'the festival on the farm' and a mere 15 minutes down the road, it was my second year in attendance. This year, I went for Ministry of Fashion and Mr Shoes (see here and here for both features) and it was an amazing weekend.

I quickly made this video to sum up the festival fashion/music/general atmosphere, and would love for you to take a look!

I also thought this would be the perfect place to ask if there are any wannabe writers out there who would like to get some writing experience with Ministry of Fashion? If you're interested, get in touch via email or twitter (@RosieMinistryUK) pronto!
