 cream lace blouse: charity shop
long grey vest: charity shop
black leggings: Topshop
pearl cross pendant: Miss Selfridge
velvet burgundy boots: H&M

This may just be the first outfit post I've ever done with a pair of prescription glasses on. The decision may have been spurred on by the fact that I actually rather love my new pair (which I got from Boots last month) and feel they kind of add a little something to the outfit, rather than brand me a complete loser.

I'm fully aware that this outfit makes my stumpy legs look even shorter but hey, it's the kind of slouchy outfit I'm going for lately for the office aka my bedroom. I've been wearing my new H&M booties (I saw them on the website and bought them instantaneously with a 25% off discount code) 'round the house for the past two days and can tell they're going to get a lot of wear this autumn.

I have since, however, put myself on a shoe ban because my shoe spending habits are getting out of control. Oh, except I might get a pair this week for a festival I'm going to this weekend. But that doesn't count. Ahem.

one year apart

V Festival 2011 saw me itching to meet up with a 'friend'. The girls and I found him. Who knows what we spoke about, but I remember a hand on my back and being flung into the air.

V Festival 2012. This 'friend' had turned into something much more, and I found myself running up to meet him to enjoy a day of sunshine. Knowing full well that, this time, when he picked me up it would be with the feeling of never wanting to be let go.

On a much more comical and evidently less romantic/soppy/vom note, our facial expressions didn't change much in a year did they?

Louise Gray for Topshop

Nails in Hat Trick
Glitter Pots in Peacock

I had a wee shopping trip last week and as well as splashing out on this River Island beauty, I couldn't resist items from the recently launched Louise Gray for Topshop make-up collaboration. Out of all the delectable glittery nail polishes, I went for the moss-green 'Hat Trick' as there's nothing like it in my disgustingly obese nail polish collection. And I just had to get the glitter pots. When I'm feeling creative, I'll certainly be trying the little hearts in my hair à la Louise herself.

Has anyone else bought anything from the Louise Gray for Topshop range?

film recommendation #6

Monday, 27 August 2012

My best friend can't watch sad films. And I understand why. The feeling you're left with can be heart-wrenching, but that's why I love them. Apart from being the perfect accompaniment for a day when all you want to do is cry, they sort of put your own life into perspective too. It could be worse.

I think I've watched The Greatest (2009) three times now. It follows the aftermath of death and how it affects the people left behind. It carries a mixture of emotions. You're uncomfortable watching it at times for the exposed grief, and the next you'll be smiling (albeit with a tear running down your cheek) at the brief lost moments of happiness.

With Susan Sarandon, Pierce Brosnan, Aaron Johnson and the ever delightful Carey Mulligan, this film is a must-see if you have a well-stocked box of tissues.

V Festival was amazing - even better than last year if at all possible.

Highlights included doing the hump with Rizzle Kicks, watching the magical Ben Howard at sunset, singing along with Tom Jones, and enjoying a DJ Fresh/LMFAO finale on the last day; the latter being my finest festival moment so far I think. The whole weekend was one big party.

It was blissfully - and sometimes unbearably - hot but I wasn't complaining. I've been craving some sort of holiday for months now and this was a pretty damn good substitute - you really felt like you were anywhere but England.

Did any of you go to V Festival?

Aaaaaand the award for worst blogger of the month goes to...? Sorry. I guess because my job involves blogging - eheheh - I kind of tire of it by the end of the day. But anyway.

I'm off to V Festival tomorrow (so will obviously be posting about that next week) and cannot wait. Above are some snaps from last year, and I can't believe how much I've changed since then. Well, all of us girls actually. Maybe we'll reenact certain pictures for a comparison?

We'll definitely have just as good a time, that's for sure. Back soon!

velvet dreams

burgundy velvet top: charity shop
black cycling shorts: H&M
gold & black statement necklace: charity shop
heeled Chelsea boots: Mr Shoes

I've scored some right whoppers from my go-to charity shop lately. This oversized velvet top (I picked up a similar one in black too) is something I imagine Topshop to be charging £40 for soon and my two came to no more than £4. The necklace I picked up today, along with a sweet white lace blouse that I'll be sure to show you soon.

The boots are another purchase this week - I swear I don't buy new stuff all of the time, but I decided to treat myself. They're from my beloved Mr Shoes and are by Destroy. I have wanted them for months and months so finally caved.

Despite being a summer-lovin' girl at heart, is anyone else actually quite looking forward to the autumn/winter 'trends' like me?
