brief life catch-up

Tuesday, 31 July 2012

So everything's been a bit manic as of late. I feel like I've barely got time to do nothing, which you really need sometimes. But anyway. Here's a picture of me and the bestie at our friend's wedding last Thursday - she looked absolutely beautiful, and we couldn't have been happier for her. I'm wearing a delightful swishy dress from H&M and Charlee is wearing a hot hot dress from New Look.

Saturday to Monday saw myself and my brother George head to Exeter to surprise my sister as an early birthday present. We hadn't seen her since Christmas, so it was wonderful. She sobbed like a baby when she opened the front door to us - n'aw!

I can't wait for this next month of summer. I've got two festivals coming up, and hopefully heaps more fun stuff on the cards. But right now, it's time for some True Blood catch-up time all to myself - bliss.

Really enjoying my first week as Blog Editor for Ministry of Fashion and Mr Shoes.
Yep, I'm plugging.
Really enjoying the sunshine too. It's hot.
I'm going to a wedding reception tomorrow which is exciting.

And now I'm going to watch some Doctor Who.

[Too much laughing while the boyfriend threw me over his shoulder and all the blood rushed to my head has resulted in this.]

want = need

Monday, 23 July 2012

Yep, I need all of this. Unfortunately there are no means for me to acquire such delightful goods though. SOBS. Sobs. Sobs some more.

Life isn't all bad though. For one thing, I'm now the BLOG EDITOR for both Ministry of Fashion AND Mr Shoes. That's right. So instead of just writing for the blogs, I now have creative control over both of them - uploading my own articles as well as others, editing in Photoshop, social media shizz, and hopefully some events in the near future. I AM VERRRRRY EXCITABLE WHEN I THINK ABOUT IT FO' REAL.

If you could follow my new 'work' twitter (@Rosie_MOF) that would be marvy.

white vest: H&M
gold statement necklace: Forever21
crosses anklet: Topshop
turquoise Buddha beads: Topshop
brown beads: Siem Reap Market, Cambodia

Wow, I really need a tripod. See me in that first picture? No. Exactly. It's just my lit-up nose.

I wore these new sale shoes and the maxi skirt today for work on the Ministry of Fashion blog, and thought heyyy two outfit posts in two days on here - why not? You may notice that my hair's a little neater than yesterday though. FINALLY got a trim after about eight months. £18 for a 3 minute haircut - I kind of begrudge that but whatever. I'm quite missing that one-and-a-half inch of hair so I hope it grows back soon.

Has anyone got any exciting weekend plans? I'm off to the pub tonight and have plans to hit up a new club in town on Saturday too. In-between all of that, I plan on spending some time with my boyfriend and his family. Cannot wait!

pink and purple

Thursday, 12 July 2012

purple jumper: H&M
long pink tee: Republic
black cycling shorts: H&M
pink cross necklace: Forever21
tan & black heeled sandals: Next

I decided to get the legs out today in my cycling shorts, but this is what I typically wear as of late with leggings; something super slouchy so that I'm comfortable when working from home. I can never help but chuck one of my brightly-coloured cross necklaces on too because, well, they just brighten up my day.

These are the first 'outfit post' snaps taken with my new camera. They are definitely better than what my old shoddy contraption produced, but the lighting in my back garden is more than rubbish. When I finally get my hands on a tripod, I'll be changing my location and having a play-around with the camera settings to get Benny (yes, he has a name) working to his full potential.

In other news, I have some news. And I cannot wait to share it with you all in due course.

through the looking glass

Monday, 9 July 2012

"Once upon a time there was a bespoke printing business by the name of Through The Looking Glass..."

And it was good. Fancy treating your partner to a love-centric message? Do you want to let your mum know just how much you love her? Or do you merely want to decorate your own bedroom wall? With an abundance of darling personalised prints to choose from, you can opt for a design that truly suits. Bekkie Kingsley-Smith, the brainbox behind this too-cute-for-words venture, welcomes your exact specifications - fancy a different colour? font? word? That's not a problem.

Although, you'd be hard-pressed to find anything in need of changing. Check out these two prints she designed for me:

Aren't they perfect? Go and take a look at the website or Facebook page for other designs and their prices and see what you like the look of. I just think they're adorable.

Here are some more designs to tickle your fancy too...

an ode to Charlee

Tuesday, 3 July 2012

I was planning on writing an ode dedicated to my best friend, Charlee. It was to be beautifully poetic and full of anecdotes and praise. But now I'm here I can only think of 'she's incredible'.

The birthday card she got me (top left) is a total dreamboat and some of the words inside (top middle) are lol-some. She also got me a personalised t-shirt (top right) that just melts my wee heart.

Oh feck it - here goes...

My best friend, Charlee Lystor,
I think of you as more of a sister,
You are the total opposite of a blister.

Love you.

brighton baby!

Monday, 2 July 2012

Here are just a few of the delightful snaps taken in Brighton on Saturday to celebrate my 22nd (yuck!) birthday. Oh, and with my fancy fan-dabby-dozy new camera too that Daniel so thoughtfully bought for me. Turns out it didn't matter that my camera broke on me on Friday, ay? I. Love. It.

We spent the day relaxing on the beach, exploring the pier, eating Italian food in The Lanes, enjoying a few bevvies, getting attacked by seagulls and hens and stags in equal amounts, riding the ferris wheel, finding Daniel a jumper (it was damn windy) and I had my Tarot cards read. Having never had it done before, I thought I'd give it a go on my birthday and rather enjoyed what she had to say. The next nine months are set to be pretty positive apparently. She also said I need to chill the eff out, which I'm going to try and do.

Today we got seafood at the well-known West Mersea Oyster Bar with my parents (yum-my) and went for a wander. Sea air really does tire you out, doesn't it?
