love Beatles tee: Topshop
leather shorts: Jane Norman sale @ Debenhams
black Chelsea boots: Aha Shake Heartbreaker Vintage
stone stretchy ring: Christmas present from Debenhams
bracelets: unknown
nail varnish: Minty Fresh by No7

This tee is perfect for a lazy Sunday: it's super soft and has the loveliest slouchy fit. Teamed with my bargainous (fake) leather shorts and Chelsea boots, I love the just-thrown-this-together aesthetic.

I'm having a beautiful Sunday for some reason. It may be chucking it down outside something horrid but I'm quite cosy inside showing my blog some love and listening to The Beatles (obvy). Hence the need for a cheesy grin. Anyone else see that Popeye arm I've got going on too? Spectacular.

I've had some exciting news recently so can't wait to share that with you all.
Have a wonderful Sunday everyone.

real good looking boy

1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6

What men choose to wear has never really bothered me. Unless you're asking for it - yes, I'm talking about YOU - then I'm quite nonplussed. Confidence, cleanliness and a big grin certainly do it for me.

That said, I guess there's always a certain style that gets your heart racing. A quick perusal through Lookbook confirmed that I have a soft spot for specific pieces: denim shirts, oversized (and preferably cutely printed) jumpers, desert boots, white tees, blacked-out sunglasses, chunky MAN boots, stripes, skinny jeans and a mop of sexy hair.

Do you fit the description? Call me.

And what menswear styles get you all kinds of excited, ladies?

[P.S. This post is dedicated to Daniel, who kindly suggested I do a menswear post while I was suffering from a lack of blog inspiration.]

clean tootsies

sandals: George

I guess such a close-up of someone's feet is enough to turn some people squeamish but whatevs - I'm just happy that they're clean after last weekend. I'm also rather attached to my new sandals, which I wore in yesterday. They were in the sale for about £6 or something so I couldn't resist.

The aztec-esque cut-out detail and slight wedge were what did it for me. I'll be sure to show you a full-length shot soon. What do we think?

v festival

Monday, 22 August 2011

So hey guys, it's been a while. Over a week in fact, sheesh! Ever-so-sorry. I think it's been a combination of being busy at work or with friends, as well as a lack of inspiration that seems to have taken over me. I promise to get back on true form pronto.

Another reason for my absence over the last few days is because I was enjoying my first ever festival at V in Chelmsford. I had the best weekend EVER. There was great food, great company, (almost) perfect weather and, of course, great music. There was no one stand-out act. I simply enjoyed lots of wonderful moments that include - but are of course not limited to -

Singing along with Bruno Mars
Singing and dancing like a crazy chick to Ellie Goulding
Completely losing myself when Eminem's encore, Lose Yourself, came on
Joining in with Plan B when they played Charmaine
And being at my most drunk while dancing (if you can even call it that!) along to The Wombats and The Courteeners

The whole festival atmosphere was incredible. And although I thankfully smell like strawberries and cream right now rather than a sweat/piss/wine/mud/cider concoction, I'd be smelly all over again just to be back there right now.

party post

Sunday, 14 August 2011

In my last post, I showcased my new mustard-coloured H&M dress that I said I would be wearing this weekend. Some interest sparked in seeing my 'party' outfits so I thought I'd give it a whirl. Here is a selection of outfits from the past couple of months, with the last three being the most recent ensembles - hello mustard beauty!

I don't know if I quite have the energy today to say exactly where every item I'm wearing has come from so if you're desperate to know, just give me a bell. I don't really know if I have a generic going-out look - aside from my hair and make-up, I quite like to mix it up. And god forbid having to 'rewear' an outfit. There have been many a hysterical message with my besties over what on earth to wear.

The number one priority is to go out and a have a good ol' dance though. I never used to go out in this way and all I can think now is why the hell not? I'm having some of the best months of my entire life this summer. Keep it coming...

hangover haul

mustard dress: H&M

black swing crop: H&M
clog heels: New Look sale
models own wah nail art pen: Boots
original source vanilla milk and raspberry shower cream: Boots
black and nude stripey dress: H&M

I don't normally do 'haul' posts because I feel it's always better seeing the clothes on, but I quite enjoy looking at other people's so I thought why the hell not? My friend Kirby and I were feeling a little worse-for-wear today so decided to treat ourselves to some shopping. I barely spent a penny as well because I had an H&M giftcard... so it's justified OK?

The mustard number is so so lovely but is maybe a little balloon-ish, so I'm considering wearing it with a belt this weekend. On that note, would you guys like to see the outcome? I never know whether posting 'party outfits' is the done thing?! Anyway, some other cute going-out items - the heels were reduced to £8! - as well as a nail art pen that I've wanted for ages. I just tested out some polka dots and it's so easy to use. The Original Source shower cream smells HEAVENLY too so that was a must-have.

Has anyone scored any amazing new pieces lately?

product praise

Tuesday, 9 August 2011

So you may have noticed that in the last month or two, my hair has somewhat changed. My hair hasn't been its natural colour for years - it's seen light brown, dark brown, red, purple, ginger... - and I decided a while back that I wanted to get closer to my natural colour; albeit, a little lighter.

My go-to hairdressers let me down immensely. And I promise not to bore you with the sob (yes, actual tears) story. Let's just say I'll never be going back. Instead, I decided to take matters into my own hands with two products - and this is the result:

From the advice of a colleague, I bought Colour B4 - a product that gets rid of your dyed colour. I was actually amazed. It made my hair so much lighter and although this wouldn't be the case for everybody, I didn't even need to put another colour on top. A little while after using it, I noticed a product range called Go Blonder by John Frieda, which I'd probably scoffed at before. It contains citrus and chamomile which both lighten your hair when combined with heat. I wash my hair as normal, apply this lightening spray once it's towel-dried and then blow-dry my hair. Done.

I'm so chuffed with the outcome that I thought I'd share it with you - just in case there are any of you out there who, like me, fancied lighter hair for summer but didn't quite have the cash to pull it off.

P.S. My hair actually looks even blonder than it does in that current photograph.
P.P.S. I do have the strongest urge to walk past my hairdressers and scream "Up Yours!"

go-to summer shorts

Sunday, 7 August 2011

white tee: New Look
navy polka dot culottes: Dorothy Perkins
black flip flops: Dorothy Perkins
floral pendant: H&M
khaki cover-up: New Look

Aside from a rotten cold, I am feeling rather chipper lately. A combination of dancing the night away on a regular basis, basking in the glorious sunshine at every opportunity, and the prospect of V Festival must have something to do with my ever-so-happy mood. Of course, it's also furthered by my plan for today - the bestie and I are going to visit my sister and her friends at our caravan for a fabulous barbeque. Heaven.

These are my go-to summer shorts by the way and I've been wearing them far too often. Comfy as hell.

Have a happy Sunday everyone!

topshop wishlist

Friday, 5 August 2011

grey jumper w. peter pan collar: £36
pink tassel brogues: £30
knitted mohair cardigan: £50
glasses and moustache necklace: £8.50
knitted stripey jumper: £40
burgundy chelsea boots: £36
black lace-up boots: £36
black tusk pendant: £7.50
leopard print playsuit: £46
green cut-out wedges: £70

I have no money. So, of course, Topshop becomes utterly irresistible to me.

To me (and many other bloggers it seems) autumn/winter clothing is a lot more interesting, quirky, appealing. Let's make it clear though, I am not willing the summer away! I just have a thing for cute knitwear and, let's face it, the snuggly boots above are just lovely. I'd quite like to team the grey jumper with the glasses/moustache necklace, and the wedges need to be on my feet right now.

Has anyone got any money-making tips? Because this is just depressing.

little miss frumpy

Wednesday, 3 August 2011

floral chiffon top: Jacques Vert/£2.99 at local charity shop

An unexpected brand for a young woman to be wearing, yet surprisingly lovely and, of course, very well-made. I excitedly told my manager at work about my purchase and she looked thoroughly unimpressed - she even said 'that'll make you look frumpy'. Whatevs, right?

I have a fair few tops in this style and shape from places like Topshop, and this was a load cheaper. I actually quite love the shoulder pads and 'frumpy-ness' of it - paired with some denim shorts and sandals, what could go wrong? Aside from looking a little grannified maybe, which I'm all for.

Anyone found any treasures lately?
