£21, at Hero & Cape

I'm sure some of you have recently heard about Hero & Cape; a British-based fashion brand that focus on the famous white tee, and jazz them up with unique graphic prints. When they contacted me, I (unfairly) decided straight away that the brand just wasn't for me. I'm not really into colourful graphic prints - a good floral pattern will entice me a lot more. I had a little look at the website today, however, and found this 'Peace Out!' tee which I love. It's summer: the hippie in me likes to come out to play, OK?

I would also quite like the London and New York skyline necklaces in my life right about now.

Is anyone else a fan of sporting a simple white tee? And what do you think of Hero & Cape?

the cutest ring ever courtesy of Sophie from Little Mittens
coral blouse: Republic
heart earrings: Dorothy Perkins

I won this beautiful ring in a giveaway, and am actually in love with it. Thank you so much Sophie! I'm wearing it out tonight along with this new coral sheer blouse I got from Republic last week - it does actually have a super cute black and white Peter Pan collar too. I can't wait!

beachy fun

Monday, 25 July 2011

Had such an amazing weekend at the caravan in West Mersea. As you can see, we enjoyed a booze-fuelled evening inside with some games and whatnot. We then proceeded to go on the beach at midnight (without a torch, conveniently) and have a giggle - prank phonecalls anyone? Oh we're so cool.

The next day was spent practically sleeping on the beach in the lovely sunshine.

How were your weekends?

Linkchocolate leopard print bandeau swimsuit at Debenhams

I purchased this wonder last week after spotting it on the Debenhams website. I hate bikini shopping and have always thought that younger women shouldn't wear swimsuits for some reason - that feeling has completely changed now though. This swimsuit is so flattering and, of course, it's leopard print meaning it equals perfection.

After work tomorrow I'm off on a mini adventure with some friends to my parent's beachside caravan. We're all a little excited and can't wait to sunbathe (ha, we wish!), frolick in the sea, have a few bevvys, eat too much and play some ludicrous games because we are just that cool.

I can't wait to wear this, and I'll probably pair it with this kaftan (which looks a lot better in real life, I swear) because it'll probably be a bit chilly the way the weather's going. Has anybody got any exciting weekend plans?

obligatory elegant poses
with the father/with the mother
'Rosie Ann Savage...' going up to shake Zandra Rhodes' hand

obligatory mortar board throw
obligatory stupid faces: everyone loved the Harry Potter vibe so we decided to become MOMENTARY death eaters

I had a wonderful day that was followed by a lovely evening at our local Indian restaurant (hello Lamb Korma). It was amazing to see my friends again and celebrate this momentous occasion - congratulations everybody!

I fell upon this pair of stunners whilst out in town today and felt sad at leaving them behind. They should be tacky but I absolutely love them. Black suede goodness, a high wedge and gold glitter - what could be wrong? A recent change in lifestyle has had me going out 'on the raz' every week so lace and chiffon attract my attention more than ever now, and shoes are number one priority. I'm completely with Carrie Bradshaw.

And, as promised, here is our free feast from today:

...plus a delightful sticky toffee pudding to finish too. Well, it was free - what were we supposed to do?!

pink polka dot playsuit: H&M
black leggings: H&M
grey cardigan: H&M
black bead 'peace sign' necklace: H&M
black chelsea boots: Aha Shake Heartbreaker Vintage

Have only just realised that last night's outfit was H&M-tastic. Well, who can blame me? Their clothes are just so comfy, which is what I needed for a night at the cinema to see - I'm sure you've guessed it - Harry Potter! It was frickin' fantastic. Feel a little lost now though...

Lately I've been feeling completely knackered so am enjoying a lazy night in. Tomorrow I'm going shopping though, and then out for a free (thank you Tesco Clubcard!) dinner at Prezzo with the bestie - I'll be sure to show you just how much we gorge on because it's going to be just epic.

beauty bargains

Thursday, 14 July 2011

The best thing about working for a shop like Boots is being the first in line when make-up gets clearanced. Of course, there's the lovely colleagues and the joy I get from helping other people (in case someone Boots-related is reading this, ha). I'm getting more and more into my make-up routine and love experimenting with new colours and techniques, so this little 'haul' cheered me up today at work where I was feeling pretty lousy - let's just say that those beautiful leopard print wedges got a seeing to last night, and I need some sleep.

I can't wait to try the Bourjois foundation - even though I'm still pretty chuffed with my regular MaxFactor Colour Adapt Foundation - and the blusher is such a sweet colour. I decided to also get some powder and liquid eyeliner because I use them so much - £1, what could I say? And I can't say no to a plum lipstick...

Has anybody bought any beauty bargains lately or got a fascinating new product to share with the likes of me? I still really want Maybelline's The Smoother. It's ridiculously silky!

leopard print suede wedges: Mr Shoes

I think the sales assistant thought my friend and I were mad in Mr Shoes. We went a little scatty at the sight of these babies. I'm just completely in love, and thought they deserved a post all to their own. Not only are they just so pretty, but they feel like slippers strapped to my feet. Or at least they do when wearing them for ten minutes - I'll be testing out their full potential tomorrow night.

The pricetag of £29.99 quite impressed me too. I just hope they last forever...

[If you couldn't tell, I'm in love.]

fire light, fire bright

spotty black palazzo pants: Dorothy Perkins

black strap top: H&M
denim jacket: H&M
sandals: Urban Outfitters, NY

I've just back from a garden fire gathering with some friends - watching YouTube videos, making our own sing-song videos, generally being stupid - and I smell like guide camp. Even the shower, where I doused myself in strawberry sundae shower gel, has not lifted that fire-y smell. All in the name of good summer fun I guess!

The above outfit was worn because it's ridiculously comfortable. The palazzo pants are new from the petite section (man do I look small in these pictures, ey?!) at Dorothy Perkins, and they feel like silky heaven. It's a shame they're in the wash now because I want to sleep in them...

How has everybody else enjoyed their Saturday night?

DIY: fringe that tee

Friday, 8 July 2011

So I'm sure this isn't the first DIY you've seen for fringing an old tee, am I right?

I've wanted to do it for a while and decided this tee was perfect. It was completely unflattering but I just couldn't bring myself to get rid of it because I picked it up in Monterey in California when I travelled the coast of that beautiful state in 2007 with my family - it's a nod to my former self, that's for sure.

Anyway, the fringing is completed in a V shape, which was inspired by a girl I saw the other day rocking this look. This is how I did it, and I think it's pretty self explanatory:

[Oh hi socks! I'm just so fashionable, it's unbelievable.]

I also kept the seam I cut off from the bottom of the tee and used it as a little hair tie. I'm rocking on the DIY front today it seems...

What do you think?

Thursday, 7 July 2011

NOIR magazine is full to the brim of to-die-for fashion and beauty, exciting interviews and travel-galore; and I was lucky enough to contribute to the just-released summer issue. I'm happy to call 'World Traveller' and 'Brit Abroad' my own and thought I'd share them with you too.

I'm so excited to be part of a magazine that has such an extensive Harry Potter section too - thrilling or what?! And there's plenty to tickle your fancy if you're not a Potterhead: a summer travel guide, festival fun and insights into the lives of The Vampire Diaries star Candice Accola and the ever-lovely Jack Whitehall. I encourage you to delve in...

£42 each

Being lucky enough to have some birthday vouchers to spend, I've been perusing the Dorothy Perkins website in search of goods. While I can't afford these beauties from the Floradita range - and should at least be spending my small amount of cash on things I, well, need - I think they're absolutely lovely. Despite said cash flow issues, they are quite reasonably priced and would completely make an outfit - perfect for that dressed-up family barbeque you're going to or even a jazzy night out.

So cute, right?

presents and purchases

NEW bright print midi silk dress: River Island sale

tan and black heeled sandals: Next
stone ring: Boots

NEW aztec print grey top: Topshop
NEW black leather shorts: Jane Norman sale
tan and black heeled sandals: Next
stone ring: Boots

NEW salmon jumper: birthday present from Topshop
NEW bird/clock pendant: birthday present

NEW pearl charm necklace: birthday present
NEW Amazon Kindle: birthday present

I've been desperate to show you some things I've bought this week with a little birthday money. The River Island midi dress didn't photograph particularly well annoyingly, but I love it. It has that vintage feel that the store normally lacks in and it was a pretty good price at £20 down from £44.99. The leather shorts were also in the sale for about £17. I never shop in Jane Norman but was encouraged by my bestie because of their closing down sale - have actually wanted a pair for ages so it seemed like fate.

The Topshop tee is heavenly - if a little pricey but hey, it was love at first sight - as are some of my other birthday pressies. Had to sneak the Kindle in there of course. I might read 'Come Away With Me' now in the beautiful sunshine and test out this bad boy...

in a dream world

Sunday, 3 July 2011

I mentioned last week that I'm forever lusting after the perfect leather jacket; and a perusal of Net-A-Porter doesn't help matters at all. The only not-so-perfect thing about them is the price. It's going to require a lot of saving, that's for sure.

Unfortunately, no such jacket came my way for my birthday, much to my absolute horror! I did get a Kindle though so am more than a little happy. And thank you for all the birthday messages too everyone - very sweet and unnecessary. I've had a completely wonderful week and plan to enjoy the rest of summer in equally wonderful ways.
