pretty in pink

Friday, 10 June 2011

I've been showing the eighties some love this week by re-watching Pretty in Pink. The film never fails to put a big fat smile on my face, and the costumes that Molly Ringwald wears - and Jon Cryer's wardrobe for that matter - are just bloody fantastic. I was a wee bit inspired so decided to make up an Andie Walsh (Molly Ringwald's character) outfit:

black bowler hat: ASOS £20
floral silk scarf: Accessorize £12
terracotta zip back twist hem blouse: Topshop £38
gold knot dangly earrings: Miss Selfridge £12.50
cream chiffon ballet skirt: Miss Selfridge £28
creme lipcolour in daze: Topshop £7.50
black and white stripe blazer: Topshop £60
black buckle strap ankle boots: Topshop £68
flower corsage brooch: Accessorize £9

I love that, if I wanted to, I could buy these items and look just like her. Oh and for good measure, let's watch one of the best scenes:

What a sweetheart poor Duckie is. I've also watched The Breakfast Club this week and may also fit in some St Elmo's Fire and Sixteen Candles. I love movies from the eighties with a passion but maybe, just maybe, I have a major crush on Molly Ringwald too?!

  1. This is my favourite post of the whole week! I love Pretty in Pink, I used to watch it every week at my grans. Love St Elmo's Fire too. How amazing is Molly Ringwald? I never got her when I was younger but totally in love with her now. (well, the formal her, in these movies.) Like the outfit you have put together too. xx

  2. I adore that movie, especially Andie's creative sewing adventures, though I cringed a bit when she butchered the vintage prom dress.
